The part most people get backwards

Waiting for pain is the expensive option

Almost everyone books their first massage the same way: something already hurts, and it has hurt long enough to be annoying. That is a reasonable moment to come in. It is also the most expensive one, because by then you are not releasing this week's tension - you are undoing three or four months of it.

Tension does not arrive all at once. It builds quietly: the same hours at the same desk, the same side you carry a bag on, the same training block, the same sleep position. Nothing about any single day is a problem. The accumulation is.

Caught at four weeks, that build-up takes one session to clear. Left for four months, it takes several - and in between you are the person who bends carefully, skips the last set, and reverses out of the driveway using the mirrors. Maintenance is not a luxury version of therapeutic massage. It is the same work, bought earlier and cheaper.

How often is actually enough

Once every four weeks. That is Ivan's straight answer, and it is not a sales number - it is roughly the pace at which ordinary life rebuilds the tension a session clears. Come much sooner and there is less to work on. Leave it much longer and you are back to undoing rather than maintaining.

If you train hard, sit for very long hours, or are coming off a specific problem, that interval may tighten for a while. Ivan will say so plainly after seeing how your body responds - and he will say so just as plainly if you do not need to come more often.

Where a package actually fits

A course of sessions and a maintenance rhythm answer different questions, and both are real. When you are working through something specific - a back that has been going for months, recovery from an overload, preparation for an event - sessions grouped closer together genuinely move you faster. That is exactly what a course is for.

For upkeep, what matters most is the interval you actually keep. A package works here too, just spread differently: the same sessions used at roughly one a month instead of all at once. Ivan will tell you which shape fits your situation after the first visit - and he will say plainly if you do not need a package at all.

What a maintenance session actually includes

Maintenance runs on the Full Body Reset protocol - the same structured hour used for treatment, applied before there is anything to treat:

  • An assessment at the start of every session; range of motion checked before and after when movement is the complaint
  • Deep tissue work through back, neck, shoulders, hips and legs
  • Trigger point release along the full pattern, not just the sore spot
  • Myofascial release
  • Assisted stretching
  • Percussion therapy where it is needed
  • A light, calming close to every session
  • A recommended interval and a date for your next visit

What to expect after

The first few maintenance visits often feel like treatment, because there is usually a backlog to clear. After that the sessions change character: less unwinding, more upkeep. You leave without a problem to report, which is exactly the point.

Most of the value never announces itself. It shows up as the week your back did not go, the training block you did not have to cut short, and the morning you got out of bed without thinking about it first.

Maintenance FAQ

Questions people actually ask

  • Once every four weeks is enough for most people. That is roughly the pace at which everyday tension rebuilds - long enough that a session has something to work on, short enough that nothing has time to turn into a problem. Ivan will tell you honestly if your body needs a different interval, but four weeks is the working default.
  • It is the cheaper half of the same work. Pain that has been building for months takes several sessions to unwind. Tension caught at four weeks takes one. You are not paying for a treat - you are paying less for the same result by arriving earlier.
  • They answer different questions. If you are working through a specific problem, sessions grouped closer together genuinely move you faster - that is what a course is for. If you are maintaining, what matters most is the interval you keep, so the same package works better spread out at roughly one session a month. Ivan recommends the shape that fits after your first visit, and will say plainly if you do not need a package at all.
  • Sixty minutes is the usual choice, because maintenance is full-body work rather than one area. Forty-five works if you know exactly where you carry tension and want that region handled. Ninety makes sense if you train hard or sit long hours and several regions need real time. Ivan will suggest which fits after your first session.
  • Yes - that is the point of the interval. Consistency at four weeks does more than a burst of sessions followed by six months of nothing. What you are buying is that tension never gets far enough to become pain, so most of the value shows up as problems that simply do not happen.

When was your last massage - and what were you already dealing with?

If you had to be in pain to book it, that is the pattern worth changing. Four weeks is the whole idea.
